Personally, I think Directive 8020 (PS5) delivers a significant underwhelming experience, even though it offers a compelling narrative. The game follows a crew of seven interstellar characters on a mission to Tau Ceti, where a meteorite strikes them, unleashing an imposter lifeform that threatens their survival. While the plot initially lingers with its potential, the story quickly loses grip due to its overly simplistic settings and shallow character development. Despite having multiple endings and branching narratives, the game’s pacing and design fail to elevate it beyond a mere Sci-Fi thriller. However, the game’s unique features—like the rewind system and quality modes—offer a refreshing touch. If you’re looking for something more than a typical Supermassive game, I’d recommend exploring other titles instead.
